Renewal of US GSP: What it offers Sri Lankan exporters

President Obama signed the ‘Trade Preferences Extension Act of 2015’on 29 June authorising the renewal of the US GSP scheme, almost two years after it expired. The scheme, instituted in 1974 and renewed periodically is designed to promote trade in developing countries. It provides exporters of 122 countries duty free access to the US market for selected products.

Hirdaramani, Kahathuduwa receives LEED Platinum Green Building Certification

Hirdaramani Industries Ltd., Kahathuduwa, a flagship facility of the Hirdaramani Group, was awarded LEED Platinum certification established by the US Green Building Council and verified by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI).

LEED, or Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design, is a green building certification program that recognises best-in-class building strategies and practices. To receive LEED certification, building projects have to satisfy prerequisites and earn points to achieve different levels of certification.
